About the role

Join Catawiki as a Business Developer and take the lead in driving our art markets in Italy. We’re on the lookout for a dynamic and results-driven sales representative with a passion for both sales and art, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.

The mission is to drive profitable revenue to the Art Cluster by onboarding and developing the revenues of galleries and artists. You work closely with Catawiki experts in Old Masters & Modern Art, Post-War & Contemporary Art to qualify the best leads and onboard them to sell online with us.

We are looking for a candidate based in Rome to liaise with our main prospects there and attend art events.

Art Sales Team

As members of the Art Team, we play a pivotal role in shaping Catawiki’s success. Each Sales Representative takes ownership of their designated territory, and makes sure to lead the strategy and success of their sellers. We’re all passionate about the art industry and working closely with artists and gallery owners.

The Art Sales Team comprises eight dynamic Key Account Managers / Business Developers strategically stationed across Europe.

Besides the immediate team, we work in sync with the in-house art experts on a daily basis.

What you’ll do
Identify and onboard new galleries and artists through various channels, including cold calling, emails, art fairs, gallery visits, and collaboration with experts.
Establish and foster robust relationships with new sellers, ensuring a seamless pre and post-sales experience with a specific focus on effective onboarding and profitable revenue growth.
Identify and research High Potential outbound leads in collaboration with experts
Qualify inbound leads by working with data and sales tooling.
Collaborate with experts to swiftly grasp the essential characteristics of different categories, including quality guidelines, leveraging this knowledge in interactions with new sellers.
What you’ll bring
Demonstrated sales mindset with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
Proven success as an active and adept networker, proficient in establishing and nurturing relationships with art galleries, art dealers, and artists.
Strong negotiation skills.
Highly autonomous and organised, capable of managing tasks and targets independently.
Genuine passion for the art industry and contemporary art.
Excellent communication skills in both Italian and English. Another language would be a plus.
Master’s/Bachelor’s degree with relevant sales experience.
Proficient in utilising Google tools such as Sheets, Slides and Docs, showcasing your proficiency in data-driven approach.
Familiarity with CRM tools, particularly HubSpot, is a valuable asset.

Our offices and way of working

We have sensational offices in Amsterdam, Groningen, Paris and our newest office in Lisbon. Most of our employees are within commutable distance of one of our office locations and enjoy a hybrid work model. This means we expect you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with each other. The exception is of course, if the job description specifically states that the role is 100% remote, as some experts and sales positions are.
