About

The Role
We are in partnership with a leading EPC Contractor within the Power Industry. We are currently recruiting for a Lead Plant Operator to join their teams across 3 new build Open Cycle Gas Turbine plants based in Aberdare, Bedfordshire, Suffolk. We are looking for the Lead Plant Operator to be part of the commissioning team for a new gas power project in the UK, until successful handover to the customer.

Operating the plant under its commissioning phase and leading and supervising the Plant Operators team. The scope of activities will be:

Role responsibilities:

Thorough understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems and components andhands-onoperation through DCS/PLC and any other applicable HMI and/or control system

Aligns plant equipment; makes necessary adjustments to plant systems/equipment as directed by the Commissioning Manager or the Lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. Operates various manual valves and/or circuit breakers throughout the plant site.

Managing andleading the teamof plant operators, preparing their working schedule and shifts. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on plant operation issues and objectives.

Assists others in performance testing of equipment/systems andon-the-job trainingof other Operators.

Troubleshoots plant equipment to resolve operational problem.

Plan and organize plant preservation and preventive maintenance, while keeping the appropriate records

Monitors and records data available using various instruments, recording charts/graphs and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.

Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements project safe work practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and/or implements repairs.

Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis/Work Authorization/Confined Space/Hot Work Permits.

Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.

Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel and operators.

Report to the Lead Mechanical/Electrical Engineers, the Commissioning Manager, and the Head of Commissioning where necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

At least 7 years working experience in operation of large power stations with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance.

BENG/HND in Mechanical/Process/Electrical engineering is preferred.

Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.

Excellentcommunication skills

Strong Organizational skills

Critical thinkingandproblem-solving skills

Excellent knowledge of MS Office

Fluent spoken and written English
