Anexcitingopportunity has arisen to join the team at the county’s newest library, Oakley Interactive Space. We opened to the public in July 2023 with our unique immersive room and we are looking fordynamicindividual with a sense of fun to help develop what we offer to our customers.

About The Team & Role

This Library Assistant role is distinctive as it has a mix of customer facing work and admin responsibilities, meaning no two days will be the same. Our Library Assistants are the public face of the Library Service, making sure that our customers have access to all of the services that libraries provide.

This will include helping them choose and issue books, maintaining the stock in the library, signposting to advice services and providing activities such as “baby, bounce and rhyme”, group visits to the immersive room and the library’s summer reading challenge. We’re looking for someone who can work independently and with colleagues and volunteers, handle money and think on their feet.

Oakley Interactive Space is the home of Library Services forEducation, a Home Educator Hub and the distribution base for the county’s libraries. As such, this role includes a range of admin tasks such as liaising with schools and othereducationsettings, preparing resources for educators, managing customer reservations and deliveries.

About You

The successful applicant should have and be able to demonstrate in their personal statement:

• Excellent and proven customer service experience;

• Be a team player with strongcommunicationand organisational skills;

• Have experience of working with or organising events for children;

• Strong ICT skills;

• A knowledge of the services libraries offer and the role libraries play in the community.
