What does the role look like?

You will join the engineering team to conduct the performance analyses and validation of the requirements laid down in the applicable specifications, providing valuable expertise by adopting rigorous analytical approach and sound engineering practices. Your role will encompass building of simulation models, sizing models, development of digital twins of components and systems, as well as the analyses in the time and frequency domains under normal and degraded functional conditions. You will also be involved in the analysis of the results of the experimental tests to confirm or improve the accuracy of the models developed. Upon needs, you will architect the experimental tests necessary to validate those models and supervise their execution.

Part of the Chief Engineering group, you will be a key contributor to the design and development of our products, enabling the advancement of the forefront of primary and secondary flight controls towards the next generation of more efficient and sustainable air vehicles. You will operate in an inclusive and dynamic working environment, in collaboration with the other engineering functions within the established Integrated Development Team. Within this role you will have the opportunity to interact with an international and multicultural engineering community.

It is required competence in the engineering disciplines, including but not limited to hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanics, system controls and stability, thermodynamics of compressible and uncompressible fluids. High quality of the technical content and timely delivery of required outputs are key aspects of the role, as well as a thorough approach and an open mindset attitude.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

The role is a key contributor to the design and development of advanced actuation systems for aerospace applications. It is based on regular interactions with the other engineering groups as well as in-deep analyses supported by data from legacy experience, actual test data, or available researches. Also part of the role will be a thorough and targeted reporting of results and analyses output.

Validate and decompose requirements of applicable technical specifications.
Create sizing tools. Conduct performance analyses. Build and run simulation models in the time and frequency domain.
Validate the prepared models on the basis of data points and other supporting data available.
Analyse test results to verify compliance to the applicable specification.
Analyse test results and architect dedicated tests to enhance design models fidelity.
Participate to design reviews and technical meetings. Deliver high technical contents and participate to key project decisions on the basis of substantiated analyses .

What will you bring to the role?

This is an exciting role within the engineering integrated design team, fundamental in supporting design choices and troubleshooting. It will bring along the opportunity to be involved in almost all aspects of the design and development processes. A sound engineering competence is the foundation supporting the multidisciplinary aspects of the role.

Required skills:

Master degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering with solid competence in hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanics and control systems disciplines.
Skilled in the use of the appropriate software tools
Understanding of design, development, validation and verification processes of aerospace components and systems, particularly in relation to recognized industry and aerospace standards.
Team player, proactive, eager to learn and increase technical competence. Always seeking continuous improvement
Rigorous approach to engineering tasks and problem solving.
Fluent Italian and good English written and oral (e.g. C1)
Availability to short travels between Italian sites and abroad

Desirable skills:

Expert level knowledge of MATLAB® and Simulink® software suites.
Advanced knowledge and use of CAMEO, AMESim and StarCCM+ or equivalent.
Previous working experience in the role or related PhD background.
Agile approach to technical challenges. At ease in a fast-evolving working environment and adaptable to contribute to different tasks as needed
Clear and targeted preparation of documents, presentations and other material supporting design reports
Good French knowledge written and oral
