We are Hestia. We

.

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable,

organisation that provides a variety of services such as Domestic Abuse,

Modern

Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal Justice. We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence.

The service you will work in….

Working as part of a team and wider multi-agency service, providing support at all times and enforcement when necessary to male offenders residing at the Approved Premises. In particular to monitor and encourage compliance, guide, advise and supervise residents, all the time ensuring that public protection is at the very core of all work carried out.

AP offer a ‘stepping stone’ from prison to more mainstream community life with a level of contact, support and supervision that does not exist anywhere else in the probation service. Residents are seen on a daily basis and staff become involved in the resident’s life to a very high degree: giving advice and offering support whilst exercising control and supervision, all the time liaising with the rest of the probation service and a wide range of agencies.

This intense level of contact is what enables AP staff to monitor residents’ well-being, to tailor support and to be aware of their actions and changes in their behaviour in a way that no other intervention can. The role of AP staff is to encourage and facilitate residents to do all that they can for themselves, rather than to do the work for them.

AP staff are not employed to work for residents, but to empower and enable them to do things for themselves. All client-facing staff working in Approved Premises are subject to a rolling rota and for Out of Hours workers, this will be night shifts only.

A day in this role looks like….

As an Intervention Worker, at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Criminal Justice Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of

empowerment

and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

Modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes, helping to create and maintain a

positive culture

of

respect

in all work inside and outside of the service with both clients and colleagues.

Actively engaging with clients and providing opportunities to do so; delivering activities to them that aid their resettlement into the community.

Contributing to delivery of the sentence plan in conjunction with colleagues in probation, the police and other external agencies.

Following protocols, encouraging compliance and taking enforcement action as necessary, in particular around drug and alcohol testing requirements and curfews.

Ensuring that colleagues, multi-agency partners and management are informed and updated as necessary.

Actively monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness and hygiene of the Approved Premises and the well-being of its occupants utilising information sharing, CCTV, direct observation, inspection, personal contact and other methods, as appropriate.
