They had 17 new starters last year, 10 of which were from well-established Defence companies and 7 fromdynamicscale-ups, so the business is continuing to grow organically. Typically, people have been enticed by their refreshing approach toautonomy, lack of ‘red-tape’, genuinelyimpactful workand their unique process, whereby the initial conversation is an opportunity to understand their journey so far and where they’re heading, directly from the founder himself.
Company fit is largely important to the team and as such they are selective. A background in, and deep understanding of the Defence industry is crucial, including experience working on major programmes.
The role itself requires an understanding across a number of verticals and, most importantly, how to architect these into efficiently functioning systems. Experience in any of the following, and how they interact would be valuable:
Design Engineering, Solution Architecture, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, System Engineering, Digital (ML/AI, Autonomous Systems, Dev Ops), Communications, System Networking.
The people who succeed in this business have specific personality traits likeresilience, impeccable stakeholder communications, the ability to thrive in greenfield situations, capability of answering difficult questions under pressure, and confidence in ambiguity or uncertainty.
